What is bloodborne pathogens?
Bloodborne Pathogens are microorganism germs that are transmitted via bloodstream that causes long- lasting infections in the body. The most common types of infections are HIV, HBV and HCV which is caused usually by needle-sticks or the spreading of their bodily fluid that enters the person’s bloodstream. The most common way of transmission is when an infected person’s blood enters the bloodstream through an open wound.
What does this course offer?
This course includes teaches individual how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to help prevent exposure incidents and following protocols that may occur in a work environment. You will be taught personal protective equipment, personal hygiene, cleaning/disinfecting equipment, and reporting and following up employee exposure to infectious materials. By completing this course, you receive a certificate of completion that meets the requirements for OSHA.
Who should take this course?
This course is directed towards individuals who are at risk of blood exposure or other bodily fluids at their job site such as frontline healthcare workers, correctional officers, tattoo artists, and maintenance workers.
