What is BLS?
BLS or Basic Life Support is an emergency treatment used in cases of cardiac arrest, airway obstruction, and respiratory arrest. CPR is part of the component for BLS which involves establishing circulation and artificial ventilation to the person who is not breathing or has no pulse. Maintaining this circulation and ventilation will reduce the chances of the person suffering brain damage and have a greater chance of saving a person’s life.
What does this course offer?
Through American Heart Association (AHA), this CPR course teaches the skills for Adult/Child/Infant CPR including giving high quality compressions, using the bag mask device, using an automated external defibrillator (AED) device, and how to help a victim, for all ages, who is choking. This course also goes more into depth into the medical terminology side this what all healthcare workers have to take before working into the healthcare field.
By completing this course, you receive AHA certification completion card that is good for 2 years which meets the criteria for healthcare jobs that require BLS certification.
People who should take the class:
BLS certification is usually required if you work in the healthcare field such as nurses, physicians, paramedics, home care workers, dentists, EMTS, medical assistants, police officers, firefighters, and others whose work is related to public safety.
